MY FIRST WEEK EXPERIENCE
With consent from Mr. Sachin Kumar, we are sharing his first-week experience in the US with you. He is the instructor of our English class who has been blessed with selection for the exchange program funded by the US department of states.
Thanks a lot, PRITHAK FOUNDATION for your, love, support and care, said Sachin.
My dream of coming to the USA finally came true.
I am here in Boston, Massachusetts. The name of my college is Bunker Hill Community College.
Here I am going to share my experience till now in the United States🇺🇸. It has been for almost a week. I have reached here on Tuesday, the 30st of July in the evening around 5 PM.
As it was the first time for me to travel by flight, I was extremely excited. Though my tickets were an economy premiere, I was given the Business class as complementary for both flights. I did not know what the business class looks like, yet I enjoyed being on the flight. As soon as I landed in Boston, there were some mixed feelings like- extremely elated, proud, emotional, nervous, etc. My coordinator came to pick me up. While on the way of my apartment, I would see things around me like roads, building in the USA, people and a lot more. I reached my apartment. It was just beautiful. I saw my room, kitchen, hall, etc. I was thanking God for every single thing.
Next day on 31st July, we all participants were taken to the bank to get the account opened. I was being the victim of jet lag but still, I managed to go as I had the excitement of seeing the American bank. I was seeing many things which were different from India. For example- in India, we walk on out left but here it's opposite, we walk on the right. Things are extremely expensive here. Yet I am managed to find a cheaper market like Hay Market where foods and vegetables are cheap and Dollar Tree where I can get everything in one dollar.
Next day on 1st August, we were taken to the college, before that I got to know how to get the Subway Charlie card and the route of my college. Finally, I reached my college. It was a just exquisite view for me to see as it was much better than my expectations. I shouted in the joy, " Yeah I've finally reached my college " and of course clicked some pics and made videos too. One of the international students gave us a tour of our college. I was just being grateful for everything that was happening to me. I got to know that there are lots of resources in the college I must get benefits from. It was just like a dream to me.
Then the next day on 3rd August, we all went to the Freedom Trail Tour of Boston which is very historic. I got to know some historic stuff about Boston. I really enjoyed this tour a lot. After this tour, we all went to college. We met our English professors; Monica Poole and Proshot. Our English class which is going to last until August started on Monday. I'm really enjoying the moments here in Boston, even though our schedule is extremely busy.
People are very nice here. People in my apartments are from different culture and country which I found very fascinating. Still, I think sometimes while walking down the streets whether I am in the dream.
I will keep updating you about almost all the things. Thanks so much again.
